Digital Health – ABDM Integration for Radiological Imaging Product

Problem Statement:

Our client, specializing in radiological imaging, aimed to integrate their existing IT system with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) for enhanced interoperability, data privacy, and secure patient record management. The provider needed compatibility with ABDM modules (M1, M2, M3), HL7 standards for healthcare data exchange, and adherence to ISO 27001 for data privacy and security. Additionally, integration with legacy systems and streamlined patient data management were critical for successful implementation.

Solution:
  1. Modules Design and Integration Strategy:
D2R Global Consulting developed a modular integration approach aligned with ABDM’s M1, M2, and M3 standards and milestones:
    • M1: Health ID creation and verification for secure patient access.
    • M2: Digital Health Records (DHR) management and secure storage.
    • M3: Health facility registry and provider data management for seamless operational integration.
  2. This approach allowed flexible scaling across the radiological imaging network and ensured a robust foundation for future updates. The integration project was completed in 6 months.
  3. Data Privacy and Interoperability:
D2R adhered to ISO 27001 standards, implementing encryption, secure access protocols, and continuous data flow monitoring to maintain data privacy. HL7 compatibility was incorporated to ensure interoperability with other health information systems, facilitating the seamless exchange of patient data and medical histories. APIs were developed to enable real-time retrieval and updates, fully compliant with ABDM’s Digital Health Record standards.
  4. Legacy System Integration:
D2R developed middleware solutions that allowed the client’s existing legacy systems to communicate with the modernized ABDM framework, enabling data migration and system compatibility without overhauling existing infrastructure.
Outcome:

The radiological imaging provider successfully integrated with ABDM, resulting in a fully compliant digital health system that allows efficient data management and access within the ABDM ecosystem. The client achieved improved data security, interoperability, and scalability, significantly enhancing patient care and data accessibility across facilities. The project’s alignment with both HL7 standards and ISO 27001 security protocols positioned the client for expanded integration within India’s digital health network.
